Album Review: Psyched – EP (2025) by Siege & CornChuck

by Antonio Douglas

There’s something uniquely special about Psyched – EP, not just because of how it sounds, but because of where and how it came together. CornChuck is someone I know personally as a good friend, and while that connection is there, this project stands firmly on its own merits. I also had the pleasure of being around during parts of its creation, much of it shaped within the Hall of Daydreams—my home, yes, but more importantly a shared creative space where ideas are allowed to stretch, breathe, and evolve freely.

The Hall of Daydreams has a particular vibe—and that vibe is the ideal energy for creativity in that headspace. It’s relaxed but focused, playful yet intentional. You can hear traces of that throughout the EP. The music feels lived-in, spontaneous, and honest, as if the walls themselves absorbed the sound and gave it back with texture.

From the jump, Psyched leans into a youthful, club-ready sensibility. These are tracks designed to move bodies, but they’re not empty calories. There’s emotion layered beneath the bounce—confidence, humor, curiosity, and moments of reflection that sneak in when you least expect them. It’s the kind of music you’d hear pulsing through modern clubs, yet it carries enough personality to stand out from the noise.

While club culture isn’t usually my natural habitat—I’m more daydreamer than nightlife regular—I still found a lot to enjoy here. The EP captures that feeling of being young, present, and fully in the moment, even if you’re just visiting that world from the outside. It’s familiar without being predictable, polished without losing its raw edge.

The closing track, “iDie,” is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s brief, but it hits with a lasting impact. There’s a quality to it—something intimate and undeniable—that stuck with me from the very first listen. When CornChuck originally sent it to me, I ran it back again and again. It hasn’t lost any of that magic since. In fact, it’s one of the tracks selected for an upcoming AMV tied to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Day celebration, which feels fitting given how visually and emotionally evocative it is.

Ultimately, Psyched – EP captures a moment: youthful, vibrant, emotionally charged, and deeply rooted in the vibe of its creation. It’s a snapshot of where CornChuck was in 2025—creative, confident, and unafraid to let the music speak for itself.
